God with Us - Part 2

Listen to the message here

“We have got to get honest with ourselves”. These were the closing words of Pastor Aram’s message from God today and they have not left me since. He opened with the reminder that we are created to carry the presence of God and we are more than qualified for the love of God. What happened in between those bold statements is the power of truth and honesty that will help you discover the value of the presence of God and how much we need to guard and protect it.

He took us into Acts 3:19-20. There we learned about the word repent and that it basically means to change your mind.  As we repent, it brings forth forgiveness and refreshes us. We all have things in our life that we sweep under the rug. We all have areas of our life that instead of confronting it we push it to the side.

The more we learn from God, the more our mind begins to change. We begin to see the biblical view and not the world view. We hold power when we have the presence of God and that provides us mercy, love, grace, and forgiveness. We have favor that gives us strength.

Any time we remove ourselves from our position under God then we allow room for the enemy to attack.

We began learning about David and how he was a man after God’s own heart. How he beat the Giant Goliath and was elevated to King over Israel, but somewhere along his journey he got sidetracked. In 2 Samuel 11, David’s own sin is brought to light as he removes himself from the presence of the Lord and laid in bed with Bathsheba. Soon after their encounter she sent news to the King and told him she was pregnant. His adultery then led to a plan to cover his sin which ended in the murder of her Husband Uriah.

As Christians we need to understand that Jesus came here to restore us and not shame us. We must be able to come to a place to confront and deal with our issues in the presence of God. To be able to see it and turn from wrong. The only reason we cannot carry His presence is because there are issues we haven’t dealt with yet.

When David was confronted by Nathan, the Prophet, he stopped running from his transgression and took it to God in a beautiful prayer of repentance we can read in Psalm 51. To me, Psalm 51 paints a picture of God’s love when we become real with our Father and expose our weakness. Only then can He replenish our hearts fully. Verses 3-6 says,

“For I know my transgressions,

and my sin is ever before me.

Against you, you only, have I sinned

and done what is evil in your sight,

so that you may be justified in your words

    and blameless in your judgment.

Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,

and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being,

and you teach me wisdom in the secret heart.”

We must remember daily that His blood is the only thing that eradicates our sin.

Father,

I want to take a moment to ask blessing upon all ears that heard and all eyes that see your message in this. I pray for forgiveness of our sins and peace upon troubled hearts and anxious minds. I pray that many works will be done as Your children spread love and comfort to others around us. I pray that you direct our paths as we step into Your presence. Allow us to have power in Your word. May Your kingdom grow in the excitement of Your people.

 In Jesus name,

 Amen
