The Truth About Money
March 2, 2025 Speaker: Aram Mushegan Series: Money Matters
Topic: Kingdom Stewardship Passage: Mark 10:17–27, Luke 12:16–21, Deuteronomy 8:17–18, Romans 12:1
In this sermon, the focus is on the importance of our hearts when it comes to money and how we steward the blessings God has given us. Drawing from Mark 10:17-27, we see the story of a rich man asking Jesus how to inherit eternal life. Jesus reveals that holiness isn’t about what we own, but about where our heart truly lies. The sermon highlights that money itself isn't good or bad—it only reflects the condition of our hearts. It’s not about how much we have, but how we use what we’ve been given.
We’re reminded that there are two ways to view wealth: selfishness or stewardship. Jesus warns against a selfish attitude, like the rich man in Luke 12:16-21, who thought he was the source of his own success. The truth is, everything we have comes from God. How we handle our resources shows what we value and where our hearts are.
The message also draws from the example of the Israelites in Deuteronomy 8:17-18, where God warns them not to forget that He is the one who gives them the power to gain wealth. When we fail to recognize this, we risk losing God’s best for us. Instead, we are called to steward what God has blessed us with in a way that honors Him.
Ultimately, the sermon encourages us to reflect on how we’re using our time, money, and talents. By choosing to honor God with these gifts, we can be faithful stewards who glorify Him and experience His continued blessings in our lives.
