F 2018

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
-Ephesians 4:11-16 (ESV)

This morning, Pastor Aram gave us 4 words for a great year. Fixed, focus, faithful, and fruitful. For some, it is easy to start spiraling off into our own fixed, focus, faithful, and fruitful moments of 2017. For others, we can only begin to focus on the broken, the distracted, the deceit, and the barren times. The truth is we all go through something in each second, each hour, day, week, month, and year we have changes of season, changes of heart, downfalls, tragedy, hurt, sickness, and pain. Just because we are Christian doesn’t mean we go without but it does mean we serve a God that allows us to learn from, receive from, grow from, and testify for His glory when our victory comes.

Fixed, focus, faithful, and fruitful.
To my God these things are crucial.
To my eyes they are just words.
To my heart they are wisdom.
To my body they are like wings to help me soar.
To my family it is fuel to my energy and my light.
This keeps me wanting more.
In my purpose this is my plan.
I will live, love, learn, and make a stand.
Fix my eyes on the Lord.
Focus on His word.
Be Faithful with what I have.
Be Fruitful, rejoice, and be glad.

As we pray ourselves into 2018 we must remember our God goals and not just our own. When we stay secure in the position God has called us to be in then He can begin to move in, on, and through us. When we stay focused on the fact that we are Sons and Daughters of a King and know that our very breath has purpose in each day, then we can stop the distractions. We can learn to say no to the world and yes to His word. When we become faithful with what God has given us already, then He can trust us with more. Be thankful in the times we sew, prayerful in the times we suffer, and praise to His name when we finally reap the harvest. We become fruitful and fulfilled when we do all things in His name and for His glory. Others will begin to see how we can make a change. A change in our mind, our body, our hearts, and our actions. Four simple words that have a powerful outcome. Our broken becomes fixed. Our distractions become drowned by our focus, our deceit shows us forgiveness, mercy, and grace to become more faithful. Through our most barren times God is birthing something through us if we just wait.

While abiding in Him and growing in the greatest F words ever we can watch ourselves and those around us bear much fruit. We can become love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness. We can become fearless, favored, fortuned, and famous in His eyes. We can become wise. We can stop believing the enemies lies. In 2018 we will change minds and rearrange lives. Where will your success lie?

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
-Joshua 1:8 (ESV)
